The iconic MERKUR Disc is a true classic, instantly recognizable by its striking ruby-red disc set within a golden frame. This sophisticated look and unique design made it a huge hit with players. The impact was immediate: the first model alone saw 40,000 units sold, fundamentally redefining the German slot machine market during the 1980s.MERKUR Disc: ruby-red game disc and golden frame – this popular classic appeared in such elegant attire and, with its unusual design, brought players great joy in gaming. The very first version of this machine alone was sold 40,000 times, and thus the MERKUR Disc shaped the slot machine landscape of the 1980s in Germany like no other.

The MERKUR Disc made its big debut in 1984 at the International Trade Fair for Amusement and Vending Machines (IMA), quickly spreading across Germany. Unlike the reel-based machines previously produced by adp Gauselmann, this model introduced a completely different disc-based mechanism.

What set the original MERKUR Disc apart from later models was its unique 'risk ladder' that allowed players to win up to 100 free games—a feature that earned it the nickname the “100er Disc.” Later iterations, including the Olympia, the 2000, and the Disco Disc, came in various colors but reduced the free game limit to 50.
